MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING
Most of us would know how to help if we saw someone having a heart attack—we’d start CPR, or at the very least, call 9-1-1. But too few of us would know how to respond if we saw someone having a panic attack or if we were concerned that a friend or co-worker might be showing signs of alcoholism.
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance misuse. The training gives participants the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
The Youth Prevention Resource Center is proud to provide Mental Health First Aid training to a variety of audiences at little to no cost.
STATEWIDE STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD
The SAB creates a strong platform on which Youth can identify issues important to them and play an active, prominent role in developing and implementing solutions to prevent them.
The YPRC SAB consists of Illinois high school students that serve as an advisory council advocating on the state level on the four (4) focus areas of YPRC.
SAB members are educated on how to advocate for issues using the youth voice and perspective.
